Business, Marketing, and Finance
Business, marketing, and finance is an innovative and advanced secondary CTE curriculum designed to integrate the former, separate programs of business management, finance, and marketing into one creative, challenging, and comprehensive pathway. The course is aligned to the 2018 Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Economics, with various aspects of those standards dispersed throughout the entirety of this two-year pathway. The course of study for the business, marketing, and finance pathway emphasizes hands-on experiences to prepare students in the areas of basic fiscal responsibility, entrepreneurship, career preparation, and/or continuing education in the field of business. This curriculum will also provide students with a strong understanding of what it means to be contributing, responsible, and productive members of society now and as they mature. Instructional strategies and activities implemented throughout the course of study are aligned to the National Business Education Association (NBEA) standards and assist students in meeting requirements for the Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) credential. Integrated with current technology, community partnerships, interactive projects, and 21st century skills, this curriculum gives ample opportunities for educators to innovate and for students to fully engage in their educational experience. (Business, Finance, and Marketing Curriculum) Students in the second year of this program will take the ESB exam to gain a national certification.
